TAVISTOCK girl guides will be delivering the Christmas Post over the weekend of December 16 and 17 due to Christmas Eve this year being on a Sunday. The community annually posts over 7,000 local cards through the guide system and it is hoped more people this year will take advantage of the scheme. For anyone not familiar with this service, the guides offer to deliver local cards for the price of a 15p stamp. The special blue stamps are now available from all members of Girlguiding Tavistock and from: Cards for Good Causes in the United Reformed Church, Lake Pharmacy, Pillars Newsagents, Superdrug and Tavistock Laundrette. Special blue post boxes are also located at these outlets, plus in guide meeting halls at Whitchurch School, Tavistock Methodist Church and the Guide Hall, and at Ford Street Spar Store. Last posting will be 5pm on Friday, December 15, after which the cards will be sorted ready for delivery the next day. The delivery area includes all roads within Tavistock and Whitchurch, but the Guides regret that they are unable to deliver to surrounding villages. To avoid disappointment customers are requested to ensure envelopes are correctly and clearly addressed.
