Plans to upgrade Tavistock?s Guildhall Square toilets are moving ahead following their closure last week. West Devon Borough Council is working with Tavistock Town Council to provide improved public toilet facilities at the town centre site. Both authorities have committed a total of £150,000 to the refurbishment. The borough council is now working with technical advisors to update a design for the toilets, which was originally drawn up some years ago. The new facilities will include baby changing facilities, will be fully compliant with disabled access legislation and, as far as possible, the existing façade of the building will be utilised. In the meantime, public conveniences in Tavistock bus station and Bedford Car Park are available. Temporary toilet facilities for the centre of the town are expected to be in place next spring to coincide with the main holiday season.
