YELVERTON Seconds continued their good league form with a comprehensive victory over Ipplepen Seconds.
Despite winning the toss on a glorious afternoon at Langton Park, Ipplepen asked Yelverton to bat on what looked to be an excellent surface.
This prediction proved to be accurate as Yelverton openers Degg and Carr raced to 38 before Degg was bowled by Braybrooks.
Taylor went cheaply but Carr batted on, forging 50 partnerships along the way with Gould, Bogue and Pennington to see Yelverton safely past the 200 mark.
Carr eventually went after a superb knock of 154, bowled by Braybrooks as he looked for his 24th boundary.
Carr hit 18 fours and 5 sixes in his two and a quarter hour stay at the crease. Pennington and Leonard pushed the total along to 275 allowing skipper Pearson to declare the innings.
Ipplepen's response started solidly but slowly and it was soon clear they were unlikely to attempt scoring the runs required to win.
Yelverton's attempts at breaking this opening partnership were
unsuccessful until the score reached 56. Leonard succeeded in fooling Tuckett with a slower delivery, and the resulting catch was safely taken by Bogue at mid-wicket.
Leonard and Treweeks turned the screws and wickets tumbled at regular intervals.
The introduction of Heath broke the back of the Ipplepen innings with a spell of 4 wickets in 6 overs. At one stage Heath was also on a hat-trick.
After this all round team performance Yelverton moved up to fifth in the division but this week they face a tough trip to divisional leaders Hatherleigh.
