Tavistock Second XI 2

TAVISTOCK seconds hockey team had a full strength side with a number of substitutes allowing captain Glanville to use 'rolling subs'.

Tavistock began confidently with good runs by Newman jnr and Townsend pressuring the defence. But Tavistock struggled with their passing game because they were playing towards the sun which made it difficult to identify players.

Tavistock defended well with Young co-ordinating the players and Osborn making a number of saves. But University took the lead from a goalmouth scramble.

In the second half Tavistock had the advantage of the sun behind them, but conceded a soft goal.

Tavistock continued to play good passing hockey with Newman Snr, Knox and Cooley controlling the midfield. They were rewarded with a well taken goal by McIntosh.

Tavistock pushed for the second goal but University scored from a short corner. Tavistock kept their heads high and scored from a scramble in the D, Townsend's shot was assisted across the goal line by McIntosh.
