UNITED Services pitch is on the River Tamar and in the opening 20 minutes it seemed the Okehampton team were admiring the view rather than playing hockey.
Poor play by the Columbines and well-taken corners by United Services gave them a 2-0 lead before Jo Moppett pulled one back.
An injury to left back Jud Grant gave Columbines further problems and by half time they were struggling 4-1 down.
The second half was a different game. Down to ten Okehampton began to develop their passing game.
Sue Stanbury controlled the middle and her passes picked out the forwards whose movement across the front troubled the United Services defence.
Another fine display from Moppett saw her secure her hat-trick and a goal from Viv Weatherington brought the score to 4-4.
United Services threatened on the break and Carol Taylor had a strong game at right back.
Unfortunately for Columbines the extra numbers told against them and United Services scored two further goals.
Columbines kept fighting and Stanbury scored goal five.
This week Columbines are away at St Ives against Plym Valley.
