OUR local Co-op store at Yelverton has recently undergone a massive refurbishment. Whilst the new store looks bright and airy, with wide aisles and a pleasing open look, it now has one, very major, disadvantage.
In opening up new areas of the store, they have increased the sales floor area. The results of this is that instead of being able to open late (8pm) into a Sunday evening they now can only open from 10am to 4pm, like every other (big) store in the area.
For me (and I?ve no doubt many others),the most useful feature of our local Co-op was this late opening facility on a Sunday. With this option removed the store competes with both Tesco and Safeway for local custom during normal trading hours, and I?m sorry to say, loses out to both of them.
So I would say to the Bosses at the Co-op: ?Thanks for the refurbishment, but I wish you hadn?t bothered!?
