A PROMINENT sign which advertises the New Carlton Cinema in Okehampton town centre is unacceptable according to a town coucillor. Cllr Charles Letchford told a meeting of the council?s planning committee that the large blue and white vertical sign,which could be seen from the road, was ?unacceptable? and suggested that the council had made a mistake in allowing it. Members agreed that mayor Tony Leech and town clerk Don Bent discuss the sign with the owner, with a view to amend or replace it.
