BEING asked to appear a number of times on a popular national television series came as a pleasant surprise to a Yelverton-based property agent.

Stephanie Kaye, a sales negotiator at Moor2Coast, team estate agent in Yelverton, Devon, appeared in three episodes of BBC1's popular Homes Under the Hammer series earlier this month.

In the programme — shown nationally at 10am — presenters Martin Roberts and Lucy Alexander follow the progress of properties bought at auction and renovated.

Filmed last summer, Stephanie appeared as guest expert along with fellow professional Graham Barton of Westcountry Property Auctions, each visiting three properties and giving their opinions and market valuations.

Stephanie, aged 50, said: 'It all came out of the blue. I've never been on television before. The phone rang one day at the office, the television producers where looking for someone from our area and I was asked if I liked to do the programme. It was a bit strange seeing myself on screen but I thoroughly enjoyed it.'

She visited a cottage in Bere Alston, a three-storey town house in Tavistock and a beautiful property in Lamerton.

Stephanie said: 'On the programme the cottage was originally in a poor state but the new owners had been doing it up as their cash flow allowed; the town house was renovated as a business move and the property in Lamerton had been totally refurbished in a contemporary style for the new owner to relocate to.'

Stephanie, who lives in Bere Alston, said 'To be involved in the making of Homes Under the Hammer was an interesting experience. It was seen by many in our area and created a lot of interest from both buyers and sellers.

'I really enjoyed it and if I was asked again to view properties for a television programmes in this area I would be happy to do so.

'Since I did Under the Hammer I have already had a lot of people coming up to me and recognise me from the television. I didn't really expect that doing a leaflet drop in Buckland Monachorum!'
