THE opening 45 minutes were even with each team creating but failing to convert their few chances and half time was reached goal-less.

Thistles started the second period with greater purpose and duly were on top from the start.  This pressure soon resulted in them taking the lead when Josh Drummond made a good run down the left before delivering an equally good low cross that Glenn Tremblett side footed home from close range.

Despite being the better side the game remained in the balance as Thistles failed to turn their superiority in to further goals until some ten minutes from the end.  Tremblett, having had two efforts strike the crossbar, scored his and Thistles second when he slotted past the advancing keeper after good work by Ed Allen.

Bradley Agar had a relatively comfortable afternoon in goal as he was well protected by his defence of Michael Johnson, Craig Erickson, Dan Lowe and Harry Ogden who dropped back from midfield in the second half all of whom were well marshalled by captain Steve Pryce.

Thistles midfield once again also did well and it included Tom Gosling and Ray Wood in addition to those already mentioned.

This Saturday sees Thistles play their first home game this campaign when they entertain Laira at Lamerton.

THE team tackled well and pressed the ball from the outset, but, playing just their second game of the season, the lack of match fitness soon told. It was as the players were trying to get their second wind, that Activate hit a shot that just looped out of the reach of George Conybeare.

There were some solid individual performances, but Thistles failed to click as a team.

Roger Blanford put himself about in midfield with little reward for his efforts as players around him failed to react.

Striker, James Scrivener linked up well with Will Hall to put Activate under pressure, however, their centre backs were up to the challange and snuffed out any real chances.  Oliver Scanlan worked extremely well at right back winning headers and putting the challenges in, whilst Patrick Powell, Jordan Quin and Dean Lambert had good games and did not give up. Bradley Barbour also improved when moved into a more central role.

While not the best team performance, some of the individual performances show promise for the rest of the season.

THISTLES got their home campaign off to a winning start in a thrilling ten goal match. Thistles raced into a two goal lead with goals scored by man of the match Toby Scanlan. Kolts recovered well and pulled the deficit back with two goals after just 12 minutes. Thistles then showed great spirit and were rewarded midway through the first half. Jordan Seward scored a fine goal after a long run and this was followed up by a solo effort from Yuri Costello. Scanlan got his well earned hat trick shortly before half time.

After the break Kolts threw everything at Thistles and only a determined display from the Thistles defence prevented the lead from slipping away. Kolts scored first but Scanlan looked to have made the game safe with his fourth goal. Kolts battled and scored one more to make the final minutes nervous for Thistles.
