UNTIL a year ago I had lived in Tavistock for 23 years and I now live in Peverell, Plymouth. Up to the present time I still continue to visit Tavistock weekly for hair appointments, shopping, coffee with friends and visits to the West Devon Club. Due to the unbelievable decision to increase car park charges yet again, I, like many other visitors to the town, will be forced to take my patronage elsewhere. I wrote a letter to the Times many years ago with reference to the car parking charges and also suggested that perhaps the council should look to their own ?backyard? and install ?pay and display? machines in their employees? car park. The people of Tavistock and visitors are subsidising the council employees who are granted this privilege. Because many workers in Tavistock cannot get public transport to work they are forced to pay extortionate fees. If the council objects to this scheme, then maybe the general public can park at Kilworthy Hill free of charge. Tavistock is a very attractive and friendly thriving market town ? let?s keep it this way. Ann Dyer Peverell Plymouth
