TAVISTOCK U8s team turned up to play Ivybridge rugby festival with justifiable confidence, having had a great season and won their last seven outings. They opened proceedings in the first match against Plymstock, which was a close thing, but Tavistock triumphed 35-25. Against Torquay the team secured a 15-10 victory. In the third match they lost narrowly to Cullompton by 35-30 before returning to winning form against Paignton by 35-30. Team spokesperson Julie Wright said: 'The boys finished an excellent season joint first on matches but top of their group on tries. They were all presented with medals and certificates and are now ready to start training for contact next season. 'Martyn Green, head coach, and his two assistants, Geoff Wright and Chris Taylor, have been key contributors to the team's progression and success throughout the season.'
