U16 Ardent League Elburton U16s 6 Tavistock Town 0 TAVISTOCK were flying high after beating the top of the league team last week but came down to earth quickly, playing a side who had great passing skills, and in Willmott, a superb finisher. On 20 minutes Willmott scored, and again five minutes later as Elberton were fast to every ball. Rockey in defence was solid. Bray and Doyle teamed up well but chances were slim. The midfield of McCall and Derbyshire created chances but often found them chasing back to defend some slick passing. Court was strong on the wing and Dee was fast on the opposite side but Tavistock could not break through. The defence of Hammond, Hopkins, Kelly and Johnson battled furiously and Webber pulled off tremendous saves. Pratt joined play and Tavistock fought back but heads dropped. Butter joined play and battled but after a few minutes it was clear the lads had accepted the result. Elburton went on to score one more. The boys are still joint third and have a Devon cup match this Sunday. Player of the match: Tom Hammond. Manager?s player: Simon Kelly.
