A TOTAL of £750 was presented to a Tavistock family last week by the branch manager of Tavistock Tyres. The exhaust, servicing and tyre specialist on the Plymouth Industrial Estate donated £1 for every TOYO tyre it sold in the months running up to Christmas to help fund a place for Paul Lewis on the Son-Rise Programme. Paul, 6, is autistic, which means he has problems communicating and relating to the world around him, but since starting the Son-Rose Programme almost three years ago he has gone from being mute to having the ability to speak. Tim Schmid, branch manager, said: 'We are keen on supporting the local community as much as possible and it is a pleasure to have the opportunity to sponsor Paul. 'We hope this will be the first of many occasions when we can help him. I know there are plans for a charity football match later this year and we will hopefully be assisting with the strips and signage for that too.' Allen Lewis, Paul's father, said: 'I am so pleased that our cause is reaching new heights and I am very confident we are on a roll now and people are becoming aware and listening.' 'We are very excited about the promotion of autism awareness and the support of Tavistock Tyres.' Pictured is branch manager Tim Schmid presenting the cheque to Allen Lewis.
