Exeter U12s 14; 0 Tavistock U12s 24; 42 THIS unplanned fixture resulted in an excellent morning of rugby. Exeter?s large squad allowed them to field two sides to test the fitness of the visiting squad of mostly more experienced players. Tavistock opened the scoring with captain Barnaby Frost going over off the first maul of the day. Exeter crashed over from a five-metre penalty to level the points. Another try from Frost in the half and one each from Hoyte and Morgan in the second secured the first game. Full back Jack Haigh and second row power house Daniel Oner excelled in making ground but the most impressive tackle was by Mark Friend who upturned Exeter?s prop five yards off the line. The second game gave a run out to the home side?s newer signings. Tight head prop Joe Hair supported centre Frost to take a one-handed catch to open the scoring. A long run down the line by Elliot Hoyte was followed by a smart pick-up and side-step by Rufus Gould for a third. A stolen pass by Frost provided the fourth and Jack Haigh?s run from deep set up Hoyte for his third and 33 points for the half. There was no stopping scrum half Phillip Snell over five metres off the base of the scrum after the restart and the half was stopped short after Tavistock?s seventh from winger Josh Stephens. Kicking honours were shared between Hoyte, Morgan, Gould and Frost. This week the team travels to Plymstock.
