FIRE crews were called to tackle a chimney fire which left two males needing treatment for smoke inhalation, in Lamerton on Saturday evening.

A crew from Tavistock attended the incident at 10.22pm, and requested the attendance of an ambulance for the two, suffering from smoke inhalation, and a second fire appliance from Tavistock for additional crew.

The fire involved a pile of stored wood adjacent to a wood burner within a house. The fire had spread to the mantle and wall of the living room.

The fire, believed to be accidental, was extinguished using a hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera.
