A WEST Devon teenager is one of thousands of hopefuls auditioning for the popular TV programme 'X Factor' this Sunday (May 11). Ruth Douglas, 16, from Whitchurch will be one of two young Tavistokians singing for success at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. Gulworthy resident Sarah-Elizabeth Williams, 16, has also been chosen. For Ruth, the task of auditioning in front of four of England's most recognisable judges — Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne, Dannii Minogue and Simon Cowell — is not the hard part, it is choosing something to wear! 'At the moment I am having the problem of what to wear,' she said. 'I don't really know what to sing either — I might sing "You Raise Me Up", a song I sang for my mum's wedding. 'I am trying not to get my hopes up though as someone told me they pick groups of 25 people to go through to the next round no matter how good or bad they are. But I suppose it is something to tell the kids one day!' Ruth, who is currently studying at Tavistock College for her A-Levels in English literature, history, psychology and music, sings in the school's gospel choir and is also a member of 'Unite' at the Tavistock Methodist Church (TMC). Sarah-Elizabeth, a Kelly College student, said she is really looking forward to the X Factor audition. Her repertoire covers a vast range from songs performed by Katherine Jenkins to Christine Aguilera and Alicia Keys.
