TAVISTOCK library is playing a part in a county-wide initiative to increase people?s interest in wildlife. The event is amongst a number hosted this month by the Devon Wildlife Trust (DWT) featuring TV?s Nick Baker. Nick, who presents the BBC?s Really Wild Show, lives near Chagford along with a growing menagerie of small animals including spiders, scorpions, stick insects, amphibians, reptiles, butterflies and moths. He keeps pet leeches in the fridge at home and often feeds them by attaching them to his leg! Nick Baker has been presenting The Really Wild Show since 1996, as well as a number of other programmes including Tomorrow?s World. Cllr Sheila Hobden, the county?s executive member for culture, said: ?Nick Baker travels all over the world bringing the wildlife message home to people, so I expect he will be pleased for once to be visiting the local library close to his home!? Local Member for Tavistock Cllr Roy Connelly said: ?Tavistock Library has an excellent track record in welcoming quality authors and speakers and providing a variety of community services aside from the regular book lending.? Nick Baker will be at Tavistock Library on Wednesday October 25 between 6 to 7.30pm. Entry is by ticket only available from Tavistock Library with limited places. To book call Tavistock Library on 01822 612218.
