THE only National Childbirth Trust tea party to be held in Devon takes place in Yelverton this Sunday.
Activities during the day include face painting, sing-songs, games and races, a best dressed teddy bear competition and a raffle, with prizes including a special teddy and a trip to Legoland. Westcountry Television presenter Alison Johns will be a guest at the party judging the bears and handing out prizes.
Across the country throughout May, more than 1,000 NCTea parties sponsored by Tetley, are being held to raise money for the charity which offers help and support to mothers, and Yelverton has been chosen as the venue for the West Devon area tea party.
The National Childbirth Trust wants all parents to have an experience of pregnancy, birth and early parenthood which enriches their lives and gives them confidence in being a parent.
Whether you are pregnant, have just had a baby, or have gone back to work, the Plymouth and West Devon branch of the NCT has local support groups for Tavistock and South East Cornwall which can offer help and support.
Julia Binding, chair of the Plymouth and West Devon branch of the NCT said: 'We hope people from around the area will come and join us at our NCTea party on May 19.
'The party will be a great opportunity for parents and parents-to-be to meet other people from the area, while raising money to enable even more parents to benefit from the information, support and services that millions of parents have received from the NCT over the last 46 years,' she said.
The party takes place near the Yelverton children's play area, between 2-5pm on Sunday.
