THE Turning Tides Project will be showcasing its Morpheus project in Okehampton, including a screening of its film in Okehampton Cinema.
Turning Tides aims to make equal access to music, the arts and life a reality to people with and without learning disabilities and autism labels.
In 2015, the Arts Council funded Turning Tides to create an original and accessible musical performance inspired by the landscape of Arnos Vale in Bristol. The result was ‘Morpheus’. Morpheus premiered at Arnos Vale on July 22.
Vicky Hooper of the Turning Tides Project said: ‘Following the success of the live performance, Turning Tides would like to bring Morpheus to Okehampton to share with friends, families, parents, supporters and our local community.
‘From October 10, the Morpheus exhibition will be on display to the public for two weeks in the foyer of the New Carlton Cinema. The exhibition describes, through art work, text, graphic score, photographs and scrap book entries, how Morpheus was created.
‘The Bristol performance of Morpheus was filmed by local film maker Will Ingram; the film will be showcased along with other films created by Turning Tides at the New Carlton Cinema on Thursday, October 13 at 2pm. Entry will be free.
‘Finally, Turning Tides will perform an adaptation of the original Morpheus performance in the forthcoming Okehampton Carnival on Saturday, October 15. We will be showcasing some of the musical themes and costumes with the evening carnival procession audience.’
The Morpheus scrapbook and CDs are available to purchase from The Turning Tides Project. All money raised will be re-invested into Turning Tides.
