FOUR programmes from Tavistock's former youth theatre have been handed into the Times — which feature many local names and faces.

'Personalities' was a popular theatre group for young people from the town and surrounding areas.

Glenys Potter, nee Jandrell, formerly of Tavistock and who now lives in Cheshire, recently came across these programmes from the late 70s to early 80s.

Glenys said she hoped the programmes would be of interest to the readers and would hopefully bring back memories for local residents who may have been involved in Personalities.

Its first show was 'Downtown' which was performed in the town hall from Thursday, February 19 to Saturday, February 21 in 1976.

The programme cost just 10p, and admission was 50p per adult and 35p for children.

Other programmes Glenys handed in included the Personalities' third production, 'Romany Way', performed in February 1978.

Prices had gone up to 90p per adult, but programmes were still 10p; 'Hullaballoon', its sixth annual production, was performed in February 1981, unfortunately programmes had risen to 15p.

The fourth production 'Kicks' was in keeping with the times and was given the punk treatment for the lively modern musical performed in February 1982.

Glenys said: 'I appeared in the two later shows and I have enjoyed picking out faces and names from my past who are in the programmes.

'I loved every minute of my time with Personalities and have continued with amateur theatre, including parts in the acclaimed Chester Mystery Plays.

'I don't even know if Personalities still exists, but perhaps people would also be interested in these old programmes.'
