HAVE you ever wanted to try your hand at woodturning? Well a club in Tavistock is looking to recruit new members for just that.

The Tavistock Turning and Carving Club meets every third Monday in the month at the Scout Den in Pixon Lane. There are hands-on evenings to master the art of woodturning and demonstrations by experts.

The club welcomes new members whether they are novices or people with experience of woodturning. There is a wide range of tools to get started so members do not have to supply their own.

As well as turning and carving, members also learn about wood colouring, furniture restoration, chair making, the properties and strength of wood and other wood related subjects.

Membership is £15 a year and anyone interested in joining should contact John Love on 01837 880102. The group currently has a display in Tavistock Library.
