A NEW stash of European money is ready and waiting to be spent — and the administrators want to hear from community projects which need the cash.
Devon and Somerset Key Fund was launched earlier this year and provides money for community groups who have not previously had grants from any major fund.
It will support projects which will contribute to the local economy and provide cash for training — up to 90 per cent funding is available.
Judy Pride, the West Devon community support worker for Community Action for Rural Devon (CARD), said: 'A small amount of money can go a long way when it's in the hands of an enthusiastic group who know what their community really wants.
'I've seen the results and it really works.
'We are still looking for new groups with great ideas to support the growth — both economically and socially — of their own community. The money is there.'
West Devon has already won almost £120,000 from the Key Fund for a variety of projects, including a facelift for Kingdon House in Tavistock, IT courses for the unemployed at the Ockment Centre in Okehampton and the Towns Alive regeneration project for Tavistock.
The Key Fund is actively seeking new applications — anyone who needs further information should contact the fund on 01392 383681 or Judy Pride on 01837 55775.
