THE Far Western Area tug of war championships were held in Princetown on Sunday and they were hosted this year by the local Princetown team. Competition was keen, with each pull being fiercely contested. The overall winner on the day was another local team, Tavistock, who collected most of the trophies. The main event was the much prized 'Devon versus Cornwall' pull for the Tillotson trophy, with Devon coming out as the winners, this time by 2-1, for the second successive year. The next competition in Princetown is on Sunday, June 8, with the first pull at 1pm. All are welcome to come and enjoy the spectacle of man against man, team against team. Be there; it is a sight to behold.
