FIVE members of Tavistock Triathlon Club competed in a extremely challenging event in Ilfracombe. It was advertised as 'the mother of short events' and was certainly a challenge.

It started with a 400m sea swim which was fairly sheltered before participants went straight into a 22km cycle with extremely steep and long hills. The event culminated in a 5km run which encompassed steep hills and many steps.

TTC's Tim Mitchell came in 43rd position out of 200 entrants in 1hr 30mins 22secs, Dave Ruffell finished in 1.44.06 with Mark Woodhouse and Nicky Deane Simmins close together in 1.49.30 and 1.51.29 respectively. Lindsay Hobbs got in sub two hours in 1.56.34!
