TEA and cakes from around the world were served at the Inspiration Centre in Okehampton recently, in conjunction with other tea parties being held all over the planet on behalf of Christian Aid. Mayor of Okehampton Tony Leech and his wife Sue came along and enjoyed Cuca, a taste from Brazil, crushed pineapple cake from the Caribbean and banana crunch from the Democratic Republic of Congo. As well as trying all the different flavours, members of the public helped the church in remembering that they too could make a difference to the lives of poor people from around the world. A total of £63 was raised and has been sent off to Christian Aid. Thanks have been expressed to the event organiser Brenda Bourne, who also made the delicious cakes and all those who attended and made donations.
