PEOPLE who are interested in table tennis but do not know how to play are being offered an opportunity to learn from a qualified coach.

A new initiative for older people to learn to play the sport, or for beginners to develop their skills, has been launched by Tavistock Area Support Services (TASS).

It comes after the success of TASS's table tennis club, started four years ago, which now has two satellite centres at Princetown and Bere Ferrers and enables people to enjoy a few games and have fun.

The new session aims to help those with little or no table tennis skills to try the sport.

Table tennis coach Lorraine Robinson said: 'We started the club in 2006 and we now run teams in the leagues. We want to encourage new players to come and enjoy the game, those who can and those who cannot play.'

The new sessions will be held at the Anchorage Centre on Monday and Thursday evenings, except the fourth Thursday of the month, from 7.30 to 9pm.
