WREN Music, Okehampton Squash and Racket Ball Club and Battle of the Bands are among the town organisations to benefit from grants from the Okehampton United Charity and Okehampton Education Foundation. On March 26, charity trustees visited Okehampton College to see its eco-hub and meet with representatives from Growing Our Future for an update on the group's new building and future educational projects. During this meeting, trustees agreed the charity's annual reports and financial statements for the financial year up to April 2014. The accounts are available to view online at http://www.okehamptoncharities.org.uk">www.okehamptoncharities.org.uk Also at the meeting, trustees granted £3,917 to Okehampton Squash and Racket Ball Club to contribute to the club's recent refurbishment, and gave three grants to three individuals for sporting excellence and arts achievement, and an educational bursary. Trustees met again on April 30 at Okehampton College and agreed a grant of up to £3,000 to support Okehampton Battle of the Bands events in 2014, and a grant of £13,000 to Wren Music to support their annual programme of events in Okehampton including the Baring-Gould Folk Weekend and their lantern procession. The trustees' next meeting is on May 28 at the Refresh Café for an update on the youth work going on at the café.
