THE National Trust is on the look out for volunteers to work on its estate at Buckland Abbey near Yelverton.

The Trust need people for a variety of jobs at Sir Francis Drake's former home, including room stewards, buggy drivers, car park attendants, gardener's assistants and operators of the stairclimber for disabled visitors.

Volunteers should be able to work a minimum of four hours per week. Training is given where necessary but the main requirement is the ability to communicate with visitors of all ages.

Apart from contributing to the preservation of the historic house, volunteers are offered benefits by the National Trust and an active social calendar.

Two coffee mornings are being held for people interested in becoming a volunteer for the Trust, on Saturday, March 19, and Tuesday, March 22, at 10am in the School Room at Buckland Abbey.

More information is available from the house volunteer co-ordinator on 01822 853607.
