A BAG containing ten silver-plated cups and statuettes awarded for swimming has been found in the safe at the Tavistock Town Council offices.
It is thought the trophies, which were discovered during a clear-out, may date back to the days of the Bannawell Street pool.
The finance and general purposes committee on Tuesday recommended the silverware be passed on to a local swimming club.
Also uncovered were a shield and silver cup from the Tavistock Chess Club, which were last won in 1962. The committee recommended the council donate these to a Tavistock school.
