OKEHAMPTON Colts travelled to North Petherton on a glorious Saturday to enjoy a fine day of Sevens Rugby to reach the semi-final against Newton Abbot Colts which they won 38-5 putting them into the final against Exeter Chiefs Colts.
Okehampton played down the slope in the first half and soon got their hands on the ball moving it across the pitch a couple of times. A slight gap opened on the left and Jamie Stevens brushed off a tackle on the half way to sprint in to score under the post. This was soon followed by a similar try, this time by Callum Ausden.
Forwards Tom McGratton, Stuart Bennie and Brad Hudson won the ball in the contact area while half-backs Richard Friend and Carl Poynton controlled play, This gave Jake Chisholm in midfield the chance to step back inside his man and a second sidestep saw him score under the post to make it 21 -0 half-time score.
Chiefs started to win some ball in the second half to run in three tries, two converted to pull back to 21-19.
Okehampton picked up their game again for the last couple of minutes to put Callum Ausden in to score under the post again, Friend converted for the final whistle to blow for a 28-19 win.
