FOUR West Devon triathletes took part in the Hayle Triathlon last weekend.

The race started with a 750m sea swim which was very cold but beautifully clear.

Following the swim there was a 20 kilometre bike section which encompassed a few challenging hills and ended with a 5k run.

Nicky Deane Simmons came second in her age group completing the course in 1 hour 29 min. Liz Vernon followed her in 1hr 30mins and Clare Short came in just one minute later.

Mike Gunnell finished in a great time of 1 hour 40. All athletes belong to the newly formed Tavistock Triathlon Club based at Kelly College.
