THE second event of the Okehampton Cycle Club summer time trial series took place last Thursday evening.

In dry but blustery conditions, six competitors took part in a ride against the clock on the demanding 11.2 mile course from Mole Avon to Whiddon Down and back on the old A30 road.

Sporting a new pair of race wheels, Dave Chowings achieved the best time of the night with 31.26, taking a full minute off his previous event time. There were also new personal best times for Tony Johnston of 34.18 and Michael Rice of 33.38. Unfortunately Dave Mills suffered severe leg cramp on his ride which forced him to stop a few times.

Full results: D Chowings 31.26; S Podd 32.31; M Rice 33.38 pb; T Johnston 34.18 pb; J Rice 34.30; D Mills 39.24.

Anyone is welcome to participate on a roadworthy bicycle. If you are interested, the meeting place is Mole Avon car park on Thursday evenings, ready for a 7pm start.
