THE annual Whitchurch and Sampford Spiney sheep dog trials have been cancelled due to the recent Foot and Mouth outbreak. However, the family dog show will still go ahead ? but at an alternative field not used by susceptible livestock, in Casey Town, Whitchurch on Saturday, August 25 starting at 1.30pm. The dog show will feature some new classes as well as the old favourites with rosettes and prizes. There will also be games, charity stalls, a cake stall, refreshments and the usual raffle. Participants will be able to park in the field. Organisers of the event expressed their sincere apologies to everyone who comes to watch the sheep dog trials but feel the cancellation is the best option given the situation at the present moment.
