BERE Alston Trekkers (BAT) raised a fantastic amount of more than £600 during their first fundraiser on Saturday. The event, which included a raffle and a jumble sale, was held to raise funds for the tsunami appeal. The BATs were overwhelmed by everyone?s generosity, the number of items donated and cash donations made. They totalled £674.12. Dotty Allan, BAT chairman, expressed thanks to the individuals who helped to make the day a success and to the following organisations for their donations: Bere Alston Parish Council; staff at West Devon Borough Council; Mansbridge and Balment; Spar; Victorian Bookshop; Bere Peninsula Surgery and Pharmacy; Queer as Fork; John Brown Stores; the Edgecumbe Hotel and J and S Downing.
