CHRISTMAS trees from plantations around Burrator Reservoir on Dartmoor are featuring in a variety of prominent places in Plymouth this year, having been donated to charitable causes by South West Lakes Trust.

The trust has provided trees for the NSPCC which have been sited at Plymouth Pavilions and Plymouth Aquarium. Derriford Hospital has been given two trees, one at the Macmillan Centre and one at the Radiotherapy unit.

A 12ft tree has been donated to Peverell Park Methodist Church and the biggest donation by the trust was a 35ft tree to Mayflower Rotary Club, which takes pride of place in Plymouth High Street.

The lights on the tree are being switched on by actor Gary Wilmot tonight (Thursday) at 6pm.

Money raised by residents sponsoring the lights is being donated to St Luke's Hospice, the Association of Children's Hospices and the Peninsula Medical School Research Laboratory.
