CHRISTMAS cheer may be in short supply at Okehampton Town Council this year, after its festive plans fell foul of fire safety regulations. Following a spot check by a fire officer, the council has been advised it is not allowed to have a live Christmas tree in the foyer entrance to the Charter Hall. The foyer is classed as a public thoroughfare and the assessment was made that a Christmas tree could pose a fire risk.
