TRAVIS have announced their first live dates since 2005's appearance at Live 8, heading to Plymouth Pavilions on Saturday May 26. Travis have twice been awarded British album of the year at the Brits and are often credited as having paved the way for British bands such as Coldplay and Keane. The band have released four studio albums — all have gone Top 10 including two number ones. The band may have never had a number one UK single, but their singles have dominated the airwaves for years with classic songs including 'Sing', 'Turn', 'Driftwood' and 'Why Does It Always Rain On Me'. Their fifth album, 'The Boy With No Name', out in May, is their first album release since 2003. The album's first single, 'Closer', will be released on April 23. The album has been named after Fran Healy's son Clay, because Fran and his wife Nora were unable to decide on the baby's name until some time after his birth. Press officer at Plymouth Pavilions, Robert Maltby, said: 'I saw Travis when they last played here in 2004, they were amazing. This was when we first heard of a new band called 'Keane', they were the support that night. I was totally blown away! Their music just sounded fantastic live! Travis are probably one of the best live bands you'll see, it's great to see them back in Plymouth.' l Following her outstanding performance back in October 2005, Joan Armatrading is heading back to Plymouth Pavilions next Thursday, March 15 as part of a rare 41 date tour of the UK. Joan Armatrading's music is effortlessly eclectic with sounds ranging from folk to sophisticated pop. Her latest album 'Into The Blues' is the latest in a long line of fabulous releases — she remains a compelling writer and performer of unique warmth and will be playing material from throughout her stunning back-catalogue.
