THE National Trust?s Buckland Abbey near Yelverton will be turning the clock back this Bank Holiday weekend, as the Medieval Free Company return with their popular encampment. Running from Saturday until Monday between 11am and 4.30pm, there should be fun and interest for all the family as the sights and smells of the late 15th century are recreated outside the Abbey?s Great Barn, with crafts, cookery and costumes from days gone by. Visitor services manager at Buckland, Jonathan Cummins, said: ?The Medieval Free Company always makes a great day out for all the family ? and a chance to get involved with all things medieval ? an experience not to be missed!? Families can watch an archery competition, learn the secrets of spinning wool and weaving braid and spy on Movar, the unlicensed miller, as he carries on his trade under the constant threat of the stocks.
