A GROUP of travellers set up camp in a Tavistock car park earlier this week.

A handful of cars and caravans had set up camp in Riverside Car Park — the long stay car park off Pixon Lane — at the beginning of the week and were still situated in the car park as the Times went to press.

A spokesperson for West Devon Borough Council, which owns the car park, said: 'We are aware of the situation with regard to the travellers situated in the Riverside Car Park.

'We are monitoring the situation and will be investigating in due course.'
