'Joined up Transport? Transport solutions for the South West' will deal with the need for strategic thinking in addressing the problems of transport in Devon and Cornwall.
Mr Mitchell said: 'Basically, the theme of the evening is the un-joined-up approach to strategic transport planning and the problem we have with the government, and other people, thinking of the issues purely within their own particular box and not about the integration of transport opportunities.'
Neil Mitchell worked at 10 Downing Street during Margaret Thatcher's early years and subsequently was appointed principal private secretary to Sir George Young, who later became transport minister for John Major.
Mr Mitchell is also an ambassador for the South West of England Regional Development Agency and was previously chief executive of Plymouth Chamber of Commerce.
The forum has been set up by Tavistock Conservatives and Tavistock Chamber of Commerce and takes place on Thursday October 3 at 6pm — all are welcome.
