THE organisers of the Tavistock Food Festival, due to take place in the town?s Bedford Car Park this summer, have announced a special transport scheme to ensure ample parking facilities during the busy weekend event. Tavistock Business Association has organised a park and ride scheme from Tavistock College during the weekend of the festival, July 30 and 31. Jeffrey Stackhouse, festival chairman, said: ?I am delighted the college has come forward with additional car parking facilities. ?This park and ride facility will more than compensate for the inevitable loss of parking in Bedford Car Park. ?West Devon Borough Council will, by the time the festival takes place, be promoting the upgraded Riverside car park, so there will be no shortage of parking in and around the town.? Mr Stackhouse said the festival committee was running a free bus service throughout both days of the festival on a regular circuit from the town square, via the college, to the festival itself. ?This will be absolutely free of charge and will ensure the festival is easily accessible for everyone,? he said.
