TRANSITION Tavistock, a group concerned with tackling the issues of oil reliance and climate change, will be holding its annual meeting in the town next week.

At the meeting, being held on Friday February 11 in Tavistock URC hall, new members will be welcomed and there will be a showing of the film 'The Challenge Ahead'.

A spokesman for the group said the annual meeting, which begins at 7pm, would be a good opportunity to celebrate the last year, and plan for the future.

'Transition from an oil-dependent society is not a myth or a far off ambition.

'It poses a very real and imminent challenge to our society and our children.

'Together we can continue to prepare for the difficulties. By being forward thinking we can work together to make it as smooth a transition as possible,' he said.
