AFTER eight weeks of training and coaching athletes from the Men Only Track Sessions took part in an 5k race on the track at Tavistock College.
In keeping with the training the runners were split into two groups and ran under race conditions. The field was wide open for both groups and some excellent times were achieved.
The winner for group one was Adrian Pitcher (who was new to running at the start of the course) and second man home in this group was Paul Brimble with Andy McCarthy third.
The winner for group two was Steve Watson and second man home in this group was Allan Herman with Roger Hewitt chasing home in third. Trophies were awarded to the winner and runner up in each group and a the most improved overall award went to Martin Head who joined the group as a complete beginner eight weeks ago.
The race marked the end of these sessions however, winter training is going to start for the men at the end of September. These sessions will be on a Monday evening and will include a combination of track and hill work and will cost £2 to non-club members (all proceeds to the track).
