TWO places are available to train with the Citizens Advice Bureau in West Devon. A volunteer advisor training course is due to begin in May and two places are available to residents of West Devon. The course includes self-study, guided learning, shadowing and observing for between three and six months followed by four days in a classroom setting. Qualified advisors will be able to support the rota in either the Tavistock or Okehampton office. Development officer for the charity Mandy Kenyon said: 'This is a great opportunity for anyone who needs a challenge for the spring. 'You do not need any experience, just enthusiasm, time, a willingness to learn and a good way with people.' She said she was keen to allay any fears that potential recruits have about remembering legislation, benefit entitlements and the like. 'Being an advisor is not about knowing all the answers, it's knowing where to look for them and that is covered in the training,' she said. West Devon CAB pays travel and parking expenses for volunteers and once qualified there is often the opportunity to train in specialist areas of advice.
