Dressage trainer Chris Dannan from Exbourne has much to celebrate after three of her pupils enjoyed great success in Ireland. Chris, a free-lance accredited dressage trainer, was thrilled when three of her pupils returned from Marlton Stud in County Wicklow where they had been representing the South West British Young Riders Dressage Scheme at a two-day friendly international dressage festival for riders under the age of 21. Lizzy Pyle, aged 18 and from Exbourne, Robert Trobridge, 16, from Exeter and Daisy Cornwall, 15, from Morchard Bishop, were all selected by British Dressage officials who felt that their results and dedication over the past year earnt them places on the teams. Chris, who herself competes regularly on Leopardo and Casual Blonde, was at Duchy College at a British Dressage competition were she was first and second in all her classes, at the same time as her pupils were in Ireland. Chris told the Times: ?I was already on a high after such a successful weekend and when I heard of all their successes I could hardly believe it.? Daisy Cornwall was part of the winning pony team and Rob and Lizzy were fourth in the junior team out of 10 teams from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Lizzy had only been given 10 days notice to take part in the event. Having to study for her A levels at Okehampton College she had decided to put competing and major competitions to one side. However when Lizzy was asked if she would like to be a part of a team when another member?s horse went lame it was a chance not to miss. She said: ?With Mum at home being able to work my horse La Belle II (owned by Lian Doble) I knew we could get to Ireland in 10 days time. Mole was fantastic and went better than she has ever gone before. ?Chris has trained me for the past six years and is always there when you need support. We are all as proud of her as she is of her pupils.?
