I OFTEN wonder, when reading reports of planning applications for house building, like the Butcher's Park and Redrow Tiddybrook extension, why a great deal of notice is taken of and complaints made about the potential traffic situation involved in the developments. These seem to be taken notice of by local councillors, and planning officials, often to the extent of a refusal of the plans. Why then has nobody expressed concern at the effect the 750 houses off the Callington Road will have on the traffic , cars, parking, congestion etc in this area. These factors are of concern in other parts of Tavistock, but apparently not in the case with the core strategy here. What about the traffic to and from the station, the buses going there, the cars picking up and dropping rail passengers, the need for massive car parking spaces etc — I could go on! Every time new plans for building are discussed, the 750 houses are mentioned, as if they will enhance the ambience and appearance of Tavistock. I truly believe this will not be the case.
