OKEHAMPTON firefighters were called to reports of a tractor on fire in an animal shed in Lewdown on Friday night.

Two crews and the 4x4 vehicle attended the incident, where they confirmed a tractor was well alight in a Dutch barn, but all the livestock had been removed from the building to a place of safety.

Four fire fighters wore breathing apparatus and used two hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze. The tractor was severely damaged by the fire, but the barn was saved.
