JOIN guide Simon Dell on one of his popular evening strolls around Tavistock, looking at its in-depth history.
On Sunday, November 2, Simon will take walkers around Tavistock, looking at the history of the market town, the legacy of the Abbey and the Dukes of Bedford — and also hearing some of the darker stories of fact and fiction that Tavistock has to offer. He will also be explaining about the Turnpike Act Roads and the Toll-houses of the town.
Simon policed Tavistock for almost 20 years, both day and night, and knows the town and its lesser known secrets intimately. Historical murders, villainous crimes and much more will be brought to life during the intriguing walk.
The gentle walk of about a mile and a half around the town, will include some uphill and uneven sections and steps. Dress warmly. Cost is £2, meet at 7pm outside the Bedford Hotel.
