A SECOND person has resigned from Okehampton Town Council and a by-election will be held on October 31 to determine who will fill the two vacancies.
Robert Owers, who was elected last year, has stood down from the council due to work commitments.
His resignation follows less than a month after Bill Bourne's, who was a council member for more than a decade.
Mr Bourne left the council after fellow members refused to apologise to him over the matter of a borough planning meeting, which he did not attend because he was in Jamaica.
The councillor said at the time that he felt members did not accept he had a valid reason for not attending the meeting, which determined the application for the demolition of Okehampton Swimming Pool and the pavilion.
A total of 17 people requested a by-election following Mr Bourne's resignation and nominations are now being invited to fill those seats.
Anyone interested should write to the elections officer at West Devon Borough Council by October 4.
Elections officer Tony Rose said four people had already indicated they would like to stand.
