I WAS disappointed to read about a proposed possible closure of Meadowlands Pool in favour of a partially council-funded Olympic-sized pool at Kelly College. I have used Meadowlands since it was built, enjoying both its health and social benefits. Being the same depth throughout the pool attracts many diverse user groups ranging from babies and toddlers, disabled, senior citizens and schools. It is ideal for aquaerobics, the less confident and learner swimmers. Together with the café and convenient parking, Meadowlands attracts many people from the Tavistock hinterland. How could the, presumably part-time, use of an Olympic size swimming pool at Kelly College possibly replace this central and widely appealing community facility? Rosanne Laverty Chillaton
